Steve grew up in the Finger Lakes region of New York, where he developed a deep passion for cold-water fishing. His journey eventually brought him to the West Coast, where he met Eileen — a lifelong angler who spent her childhood fishing the trout-filled waters of the Sierra Nevada with her father.

Together, Steve and Eileen built a life around their shared love of fishing, exploring waters across the globe — from the rivers of Wyoming and the wilderness of Alaska, to the rich fisheries of Baja California, Costa Rica, Northern Ontario, and beyond. Their pursuits have taken them after bass, stripers, trout, salmon, tarpon, walleye, pike, big tuna, and nearly everything in between.

After welcoming their two children, Mitchell and Maia, the family continued their outdoor adventures — adapting over the years from bass boats to kayak fishing in the ocean, and embarking on long-range saltwater trips in pursuit of tuna and yellowtail. Through every season of life, fishing remained at the heart of the Dann family.

When Mitchell and Maia reached adulthood, the beauty of Southern Utah came calling. The Danns relocated to Apple Valley, drawn by the stunning scenery and unmatched outdoor lifestyle — and were pleasantly surprised to discover the exceptional quality of fishing in the region.

Recognizing a gap in the local market, the Danns channeled their decades of experience into opening Dann's Fishing — a full-service tackle shop dedicated to giving locals and visitors alike everything they need to succeed on the area's nutrient-rich lakes, creeks, and rivers. It's more than a shop; it's a passion brought to life.
